A little over six months ago, a team of individuals with a heart for the kids of Sunnyslope set out to change the overwhelming climate of "The Slope". The first Friday evening around 50 kids, adults and curious bystanders partook in an evening of basketball, painting, hot dogs, and community. Since that night, we have gotten to know a great number of adolescents in need of mentors, family values, and most of all, a friend.
We strive to show the love of Jesus Christ to all who come through the door of Prodigal's Home. Many conversations take place sitting at the table over hotdogs and lemonade or around the campfire roasting marshmallows. We have begun to get a glimpse into the lives of these kids and their families and the very real and difficult struggles they go through daily. We don't claim to have the answer to all of their hardships but, we do point them to the one who holds the real remedy, Jesus Christ. Through Kidz Club, 3on3 basketball tournaments, weight lifting demonstrations, teen mentoring, and by just listening, we are sharing the freeing Gospel of grace, love, and hope to all who will listen.
We are all so excited to see where God leads this willing team of folks with a heart for the community of Sunnyslope.
